Listed below are several ways you can serve our Nation’s Veterans as a volunteer. If you have special skills to offer, please let us know so we can discuss how you can best use your talents to help our Veterans.
Volunteer Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Van Drivers
Pick-up Veteran patients for outpatient clinic appointments at VHSO Fayetteville and Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC). Hours: as needed. We also run a daily van from Fayetteville to Little Rock, Arkansas. Hours: leaves Fayetteville at 6:00 a.m. and returns approximately 6:00 p.m. To fill this role, you must have a current drivers’ license and automobile insurance and pass a physical exam.
Regular Schedule VAVS Volunteer Assignments are normally Monday-Friday, 7:30a.m.-4:30p.m.; we offer limited after-hours and weekend assignments.
Concierge/Information Desk Volunteer
Greet visitors; assists with information and clinic locations. Hours: 7:30a.m.-4:00p.m.
Assist variety of medical or administrative offices. Duties include filing, shredding, answer phones, and greeting and directing patients and visitors. Hours: 8:00a.m.-4:00p.m.
Assist at the pharmacy window. Hours: 8:00a.m.-4:00p.m.
Provide assistance with pushing patients in wheelchairs to their scheduled appointments and delivery of items to various areas. Hours: 7:30a.m.-4:00p.m.
Serve coffee to inpatients and in outpatient clinics/waiting areas. Hours: 8:00a.m.-3:00p.m.
Sort donated magazines and books; take the cart to designated waiting areas and visit inpatients. Hours: 8:00a.m.-4:00p.m.
Vital Signs Volunteer
Take outpatient vital signs. Hours: 7:30a.m.-3:00p.m.
Welcome Desk Volunteer
Greets patients and visitors in various clinics; notifies technician of arrival. Hours: 8:00a.m.-4:00p.m.
Voluntary Service Inventory Manager
Inventories Voluntary Service storeroom supplies; keeps storeroom neat; makes distribution. Hours: 8:00a.m.-4:00p.m..
