VHSO is pleased to share the latest news regarding our clinic in Mt. Vernon, Missouri. We are nearing completion of the 60-day extension of the contract with University of Missouri for our continued operations there at the Missouri Rehab Center (MRC). The stopgap contract we are working on would carry us through December 31, 2014. Beginning January 1, 2015, we plan to have in place a permanent contract that will enable us to remain at the MRC for three full years while the new clinic in Springfield, MO is completed.
After conferring with the various services involved we have decided to leave all services in their current location. All sleep, lab, and radiology services will remain in the same location.
We are working with the MRC to determine what, if any, equipment may remain in place versus what equipment and supplies we may need to purchase. Current vendors and contracts are being reviewed to determine how services will proceed. We have asked Primary Care to work with providers to design contingency plans in the event that the transition is not as smooth as we anticipate. However, please be assured that services will continue, with minimal impact to the patients and our current processes.
We are vigorously working to establish 32.5 FTEE in new positions These positions include 2 FTEE in Radiology, 12 FTEE in the Lab, 5.5 FTEE for Sleep, 2 FTEE for physical therapy, 3 FTEE for Pain/TBI, 6 FTEE for clerical positions, and 2 FTEE for Biomed staff. Several of these positions have already been announced on USA JOBS.
Please continue to direct any questions from Veterans to their primary care team. All media inquiries should be directed to Public Affairs, either Wanda Shull at 479-443-4301 ext. 65257 or Sarah McBride ext. 63114.
Kim Adkins, Executive Assistant to the Medical Center Director, has been designated as the primary point of contact should anyone need additional information. She will be on site at Mt. Vernon at least one day each week (usually Thursday) until the transition is complete. Ms. Adkins can be reached at 479-444-4064.
Again, thank you for your continued hard work and support during this time of uncertainty. We appreciate all that you do for our patients, fellow staff, and visitors.
